My Experience and Enduring Commitment:
Why I Do This Work

Hi Folks,
My name is Brendan Storey. My passion for this work stems from the realization that navigating late-life transitions, such as coping with profound loss and chronic illness or managing overwhelming caregiving demands, often feels isolating and impossible. Aging naturally brings up deep questions about identity, purpose, and the impact of physical and cognitive change. My role is to offer a grounded,
honest presence to help you explore this vulnerability, holding space for dignity, grief, and the questions about legacy, so you can find a meaningful way forward.

I hold a Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from Wilfrid Laurier University (WLU), and I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW), licensed and registered in good standing with the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers (NBASW) and a member of the Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW). I bring extensive hands-on experience from diverse geriatric settings: from hospitals and long-term care to specialized clinics across New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and Ontario, with a specific focus on neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, LBD, FTD, MS). This experience ensures that when we talk, I understand the complex healthcare systems and emotional challenges you face, not just theoretically, but from the inside.

My practice is rooted in a trauma-informed, strengths-based relationship. This work is fundamentally collaborative: you bring your lived experience, and I bring the clinical structure. This foundation is essential for offering the consistent, protected time needed to navigate complex challenges thoroughly. By integrating established clinical methods like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Narrative Therapy, my commitment is to walk alongside you through the hard work of grief and making sense of change, while providing grounded direction to find a meaningful, supported path forward.

Support Where You Need It Most

Because accessing support shouldn't be another stressor, I specialize in Mobile (in-home) Counselling in and around the Greater Moncton Area (approx. 50km) and secure Virtual Counselling across the rest of New Brunswick. I meet you where you are, literally and emotionally: whether at your private residence, in a retirement home, or via secure video, ensuring support is accessible, discreet, and stress-free.

If you’re unsure whether counselling is right for you, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to answer questions and discuss fit. Call 506-227-0620 or email [email protected].
